With over 20 years of experience in collegiate athletics, Tom Brooks is a proven sports administrator and corporate sales manager. Specialties include sports marketing, event promotion, fundraising and the creation of new revenue centers.
Tom is currently helping to manage Crimson Tide Sports Marketing, the exclusive multi-media rights holder for the University of Alabama Athletic Department. In addition to controlling all advertising and sponsorship inventory directly associated with the University of Alabama, Crimson Tide Sports Marketing is recognized as one of the largest and most innovative sports properties in all of college athletics. This includes the Crimson Tide Radio Network, the popular coaches television shows, venue signage, print advertising, promotions, concession operations and rolltide.com, the official website of Crimson Tide Athletics.
Prior to his current position at Alabama, Tom served two years in the role of Associate General Manager for Penn State Sports Properties, the multi-media rights holder for Penn State University Athletics.
Mr. Brooks came to State College, PA after serving eight years as an Assistant Athletic Director at the University of Michigan Athletic Department. In this role, Tom oversaw all marketing and promotional activities. Other direct responsibilities included management of the Michigan Corporate Partnership Program, one of the most profitable in-house operations in college athletics, special fundraising programs, game-day event management, and coordination of the club seating programs for Michigan Basketball & Hockey. Brooks also worked directly with the Director of Licensing on programs to improve the sale of licensed merchandise to maintain Michigan’s status as one of the top licensed brands in college athletics.
Prior to joining the staff at Michigan, Brooks worked for one year at North Carolina State University as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Promotions, and seven years at the Georgia Tech Athletic Association as Director of Marketing. During his career in collegiate athletics, Brooks has served on numerous executive and charitable boards, in addition to serving on the NACMA Board of Directors. He has acted as the Associate Tournament Director of the NCAA East Basketball Regional, Tournament Director of the NCAA Southeast Baseball Regional, and Associate Tournament Director of the NCAA West Hockey Regional. Brooks was named the 2004 & 2003 Big Ten Conference Marketer of the Year, and served on the prestigious NCAA Football Promotion Committee.
A native of Marshall, MI, Tom received his BSCE from Georgia Tech and his Master’s in Sports Administration from Wayne State University. Brooks is married to the former Jennifer Lehr, a University of Alabama graduate, and the couple has two daughters- Haven and Hollyn.
